Setting up a New Mod Directory

Double click on IGOR to start it up. Be patient because this program takes a while to load and is a big memory hog. Might as well go make some coffee or grab a beer and a bite to eat; it'll be a minute or two before it is ready to go. First thing we are going to do is create a new mod folder. This is the best course of action to take. This way you can modify the files to your heart's content without the worry of messing up your Origmiss files and sticking yourself with a reinstall. Once IGOR is finished loading go to the File menu and select Mods.

Refer to the figure below:

The Mods window should open next and you will see:

There are several things that you can do in this window. Look at the left hand side and you will see a list of all of the mods that you have installed in your Mods directory. Here is where you make the decision of which mods you want to be active for this work session in IGOR. It will first detect any Mods that are active in GR and place a check mark next to it's name. You can drag the scroll bar to the left and right to view the other mods in your directory or use the right and left arrows to achieve the same effect. There are also three buttons. New, Update, & Close and Refresh. The New button allows you to create a new mod and it will automatically create all of the sub-folders that are nested in a mod folder for you. I'll get to the other two buttons in a second so go ahead and click on the New... button now.

You should see the following dialogue box:

Where you see the highlighted text "New mod" is where you type in the name of your mod folder. For this tutorial, I am going to leave it as "New mod". Once you have come up with a creative name for your mod, click on the Save button.

Now back to the Mods window:

Scroll to the right until you find the name of your mod if you have to. Place a check mark in the box to the left and click on it's name to highlight it. The fields in the right area of the window are now available for the input of text. The fields to the right contain the data that is in the modscont.txt file in your mod directory. GR needs some information here. Type a name in for your mod. This name will appear in the mods list in the mods section once GR is launched. It will also be the name of your campaign if you decided to make more than one mission and link them together. Author should be self explanatory. You can also update the version if you'd like if this is your second go at the same mod in case there were bugs. Description usually reads: Server-Client. This tells gamers that the mod must be installed on both the Server side and the Client side. Since we will be making more than just a mission all will need a copy of this mod to play it on the internet in MP play.

Now click on the Update button. This will create and/or update the modscont.txt file. Next check the box labeled: Default mod for the editor, then click on Close and Refresh.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Once you quit IGOR and finally get some sleep you will have to go through most of these motions each time you open the program up. You will have to go back to File>Mods, select your mod in the list (and any other mod that you want active for this mission), check the default mod for editor, & Close and Refresh.

One other thing that you may want to do is deselect any and all mods that you do not want active for your mission. There might be a custom actor file or vehicle that will cause problems if you select it and then the mod is not active on the system that this one is installed to.
